Sunderland crashed out of the FA Cup against the holders Arsenal this afternoon thanks to two quickfire second-half goals from Aaron Ramsey and Oliver Giroud. The Black Cats put in a spirited display and took the lead in the 17th minute through Jeremain Lens, who performed well during his return to the side in a more central role. The lead lasted under 10 minutes when Joel Campbell steered past debutant Jordan Pickford after some slack defending from the Wearsiders.

Sunderland had their chances in the game but came up short in a match not many expected to win. Sam Allardyce now turns his attention to Wednesday’s clash against Swansea.
