Jermain Defoe scored his ninth goal in thirteen games against Swansea, and the former Spurs man has promised to keep scoring the goals that could save Sunderland from the drop.

Defoe who scored a hat-trick against Swansea will hope that he can maintain this run of form, and can hopefully give the team the belief that they can stay up.

Defoe giving a post-match interview said:

“I always visualise before the game that I am going to score and If you get the chances you have to put them away”

The former West Ham man now has five goals in his last two games and has shown no signs of stopping anytime soon. His crucial hat-trick took them above rivals Newcastle by goal difference and within a point of Swansea who sit in seventeenth place in the table.

Defoe and the rest of the team have no doubt benefited from Sam Allardyce’s previous relegation battles, and the Black Cats will need to keep up their recent form if they are to stand a chance of survival.
