Daniel Agger
The Liverpool legend is clearly missing the atmosphere of the Premier League, admitting earlier in the year missing life away from Anfield after completing a move to boyhood club Brondby for a fee, believed to be £3-million.
The Danish international, 31, still has a few years ahead of him. A return to Liverpool’s back line is not off the cards but granted there isn’t plans to resign him, any team in the bottom half of the Premier League will be lucky to have his passion, leadership and experience in their side.
Most of all, it would be an addition welcomed into the Sunderland locker room, a healthy personality from a winner that will never think of relegation as being on the cards. Signings like Agger could move Sunderland from thinking safety is a result, to thinking safety is mandatory.
Dimitar Berbatov
On his day, Dimitar Berbatov was one of the best strikers in the world, no doubt about it. His style of play is controllable, calm and flamboyant, traits that make him a pleasure to watch on the field of play.
At the age of 35, there may be one last season in the Premier League – the saying – ‘form is temporary, class is permanent’ – springs to mind when describing the former Spurs man.
After successful spells at Manchester United and Fulham, Berbatov now sees his contract expiring in the summer with PAOK, with a return to England likely.
Michael Carrick
The North East born central midfielder sees himself out of contract in the summer with Manchester United, and a contract renewal doesn’t look to be on the cards with a central midfield of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and ander herrera.
A Sunderland move is unlikely for the 34 year old, however the former spurs man could still prove his worth to Sam Allardyce.
Tomáš Rosický
The experienced former Borussia Dortmund midfielder finds himself without a contract in the summer, and whether he will gain one is in serious doubt.
Looking at the pedigree of creative midfielders in the current Arsenal side, as well as taking into consideration Rosicky’s injuries and age, a contract won’t be on the cards.
However, he still could add something different to the Sunderland side in the summer. His experience and quality is a lot to gain for anytime, especially for free.
Naldo
To find the Brazilian central defender out of contract in May is a huge surprise. The Wolfsburg man, at the age of 33, is in great form, arguably the best of his career, and he may be looking for a move this summer, with England being a great test of his quality.
Sunderland would benefit greatly from Naldo, but there will be many admirers of his talents from accross the glibe.
