David Moyes is targeting at least four new players before the transfer window closes, according to the Sunderland Echo.
Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow’s derby, the Sunderland boss has revealed he wants to sign two central midfielders, a striker and a right back before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
A centre back may also be on the agenda following Younes Kaboul’s move to Watford and the ongoing saga surrounding Lamine Kone.
I am trying to bring in some players, but the market is not easy.
An injury-hit pre-season has decimated an already thin Sunderland squad and, with Kirchhoff, Larsson and Cattermole out for the foreseeable future, the team desperately needs reinforcements.
The Black Cats have added four new faces already, with the versatile Papy Djilobodji and Paddy McNair joining from Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, Adnan Januzaj coming on loan from the Red Devils and right back Donald Love also arriving from Old Trafford.
On Love, Moyes said
We have been hunting very hard for a right back. We took Donald Love as a back-up, a young boy coming through, but we are still looking for that.
Last season’s loanee DeAndre Yedlin is not thought to be on the scouting list, but midfielder Yann M’Vila is.
