Sunderland closing in on a move for Iborra
According to an emerging report from talkSPORT this afternoon, Sunderland are closing in on a £7 million move for Sevilla’s defensive midfielder Vicente Iborra.
The report claims that a bid for the powerful midfielder was accepted on Wednesday and Sevilla are prepared to part ways with the 28-year-old for a price that can only be considered as a coup for David Moyes’ men.
Moyes will have a brief knowledge of Iborra thanks to his managing tenure out in La Liga through his unsuccessful tenure with Real Sociedad before his switch to Sunderland, having faced the towering midfielder on occasions.
The former Levante man would be an excellent signing for Sunderland given their desperation for natural holding midfielders, enforced by their current injury crisis all across the pitch, and his experience of big games.
Iborra featured in the Sevilla team that won the Europa League for consecutive years and will bring with him bags of class and experience to the Sunderland squad.
