Sunderland not the only option for Gyan and Iborra
Sunderland are interested in Asamoah Gyan and Vicente Iborra, but the Northern Echo reports that they will face competition from other sides.
Gyan, who played for Sunderland in the 2010/11 season, knows about interest from his former club. However, it is thought that both Fulham and Reading are favourites to sign the 30-year-old this week.
The Ghana striker is confident that he’ll make a move back to England before Wednesday:
I am confident I will have a club in England. There are good options to think about, so we had to fly in quickly. Me being in England means there is something concrete, so we need to evaluate the options and do the work.
David Moyes is also thought to be looking at signing Vicente Iborra from Sevilla. The club has offered £7 million for the 28-year-old midfielder, but La Liga side Valencia are also getting ready to make a move.
Sunderland have brought in multiple players this summer, three of which come from Manchester United. Patrick McNair and Donald Love have come to strengthen defensive options, while Adnan Januzaj has joined on loan. They’ve also signed Steven Pienaar and Papy Djilobodji.
The side find themselves with only one point from the opening three Premier League games, which came this weekend from their 1-1 draw against Southampton.
