# Steven Fletcher eyes Marsielle stay

Scotland International Steven Fletcher has [revealed](https://www.lephoceen.fr/infos-om/interview/fletcher-je-veux-impressionner-pour-obtenir-un-contrat-144099) to the French media that he wishes to stay at Marseille next season once his contract at Sunderland is finished.

> “Yes, my contract ends in June with Sunderland. I finish the season here in Marseille, and I want to show what I am capable of doing and try to impress the club to get a contract at the end. It would great, but now I have to prove on the field. “

Fletcher made his debut for Marseille last weekend against Paris Saint-Germain as a second-half substitute and is hopeful of breaking into the first team fold soon. It is likely that we have seen the last of Fletcher on Wearside, with the £12-million man having a frustrating spell in the north-east.

> “We spoke before he went, he came and asked me about it, I said if you’re going to France, then PSG, Lyon and Marseille are the clubs to go and play for. Luckily, he had Marseille knocking at the door.”
