# Sunderland interested in Norwich midfielder

According to [Sport24](https://sport24.lefigaro.fr/football/transferts/fil-info/youssouf-mulumbu-en-approche-a-marseille-817240), Sunderland are one of a number of clubs interested in Norwich midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.

The report says that Mulumbu is keen on a move back to France, having previously played for PSG, despite English interest.

[Premier League](https://readpl.com/) trio [Crystal Palace](https://readcrystalpalace.com/), [Sunderland](https://readsunderland.com/) and Middlesbrough are all thought to be interested in the midfielder, but Marseille are the favourites at this time.

Mulumbu joined Norwich on a free transfer last summer having left [West Brom](https://readwestbrom.com/), but he now has just one year left on his contract.

After a poor season at Norwich, resulting in relegation, a new contract for the midfielder is unlikely. This has opened the door for Mulumbu to leave Norfolk this summer, with a move to France now looking like his destination.

Sunderland will be hoping that they can persuade him to ditch a move back to France and come and join them in their quest to retain their Premier League status once more.
