# Black Cats sitting patient in M’Vila pursuit

Sunderland remain keen on signing last season’s loan star Yann M’Vila despite a series of setbacks in their pursuit of the Frenchman.

M’Vila has been a key target since the end of the last season, and despite a change in manager, the Black Cats remain hopeful in completing a permanent deal for the French International.

[According to the Sunderland Echo](https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/deal-for-sunderland-target-yann-m-vila-proving-complicated-as-summer-saga-rumbles-on-1-8041498), the Russian club are believed to have slapped a £5-million price tag on the 26-year-old; a fee that appears a bit steep for a player who has just six months remaining on his deal in Russia.

The French midfielder was a target for new Sunderland manager David Moyes during his final season at Everton, before the Scot took charge at Manchester United.

Everton have again been linked with a move this summer but Sunderland remain in pole position to land the midfielder with negotiations ongoing with Rubin Kazan and M’Vila himself, who will have to lower his £100,000 per week wages if he is to return to Wearside.

Sunderland, yet to make a summer signing, could potentially wait until M’Vila is a free agent in January but would then risk other clubs beating them to his signature, with the player sought after throughout Europe.
