Bradford City, Luton Town and Fleetwood Town are watching Sunderland forward Trey Ogunsuyi ahead of the January transfer window.
Nothing is official yet, given this stage of the season, but this is the latest Trey Ogunsuyi transfer speculation doing the rounds, and it traces back to Alan Nixon.
Ogunsuyi is 19, he has spent this season with Sunderland’s academy sides after two loan spells last term.
The reported interest suggests his stock is still high among clubs lower down the pyramid.
Alan Nixon reports EFL trio monitoring Sunderland youngster
According to journalist Alan Nixon, all three clubs see Ogunsuyi as a potential option for January.
Nixon has a strong track record breaking transfer stories across the EFL and his reporting here fits a familiar pattern: clubs scouting young forwards before the winter market opens.
The Football League World transfer report carries the original detail on where each club’s interest stands.
None of Bradford, Luton or Fleetwood have moved beyond that monitoring stage, at least based on what has been reported so far.
Sunderland have given no indication Ogunsuyi is available, permanently or on loan, but players will become available closer to the turn of the year.
First-team debut and loan background shape Ogunsuyi context
Ogunsuyi is not a stranger to Sunderland fans.
He made his first-team debut for the club in the FA Cup back in 2025. That taste of senior football came before his development plan moved him out on loan.
Last season, he featured for both Falkirk and Shrewsbury Town, gaining regular first-team minutes in senior football.
That is exactly the crucial experience Sunderland want their academy prospects to collect before pushing for a longer-term breakthrough.
Alternatively, it prepares the players for a lower level that they will be able to make an impact at.
For now, Ogunsuyi remains part of Sunderland’s academy setup and continues to feature for the club’s U21 side.
He scored in Sunderland U21s’ recent 3-3 EFL Trophy draw against Accrington Stanley, a match the young Black Cats went on to lose on penalties.
