Reports today from Gianluca Di Marzio in Italy are claiming that Sunderland are in talks with Napoli over a loan move for Jonathan De Guzman. Sunderland have been on the look out for an attacking midfield playmaker and De Guzman fits that role perfectly.
The deal, initially on a season-long loan, would come with an obligation to buy for around £3.5 million, provided Sunderland and De Guzman meet certain criteria such as staying in the premier league. The midfielder has past premier league experience, having spent two seasons on loan at Swansea city between 2012-2014, scoring nine goals during his stay in Wales.
The Napoli man is keen on a move back to England despite interest from Marseille, and Sunderland are at the front of the queue for his signature. The deal would be considered a step in the right direction for the Black Cats after a torrid start to the season. Fans are eager to see reinforcements brought into the squad and the signing of De Guzman would hopefully be the first of many coming through the doors at Sunderland in the next two weeks.
