Contrary to what we brought you here at Read Sunderland earlier in the week, it appears FIFA are willing to prolong the Ricky Alvarez transfer saga. On Wednesday, we brought you the news that San Lorenzo had agreed provisional terms with the former Sunderland loanee and were just awaiting confirmation of FIFA on the deal.
Given the complications and current investigation ongoing in the governing body after Inter Milan launched a complaint regarding Sunderland’s reluctance to keep a clause in Alvarez’s contract, FIFA decided to reject San Lorenzo’s appeal to sign the player.
With the Argentinian window closing today, this leaves chances of Ricky Alvarez’s much-anticipated move back to his home country very slim. FIFA have said they put no timescale on the matter; maybe the Ricky Alvarez transfer saga will never end!
