On the eve of Sunday’s big clash with Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has further pledged his future to the club. The Dutchman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season although he has now revealed he would welcome the opportunity to stay on for longer.
Only a few weeks ago was Advocaat frustrated at the club for their lack of transfer activity and even admitted he had doubts on the length of his tenure on Wearside. His game of brinkmanship with owner Ellis Short paid off with the arrival of Fabio Borini and DeAndre Yedlin in the final days of the transfer window.
The former Zenit boss now see’s much more promise in this Sunderland team, calling it a stronger outfit to the one that finished 16th last season. Advocaat has even gone as far as saying he wishes he was ten years younger so he could devote a decade into helping turn around a club averages a manager a season since 2011.
With the shaky start to the season the club has had, these comments show personnel at Sunderland are devoted to propelling this club up the table.
