Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has revealed that he doesn’t know enough about new signing DeAndre Yedlin, who is on loan from Tottenham.
In an interview with the Sunderland Echo, Advocaat said, “I don’t know enough about him yet, to be honest.” He then continued “I’ve seen the videos of him against Holland where he did really well when he came on.”
DeAndre joined up with the squad on Friday following the International break and couldn’t feature on Saturday against Tottenham due to the terms of his loan agreement from his parent club.
At 22 years-old, DeAndre Yedlin has already played 25 times for the United States national team.
Both full-backs have struggled so far this season for Sunderland and the arrival of Yedlin will no doubt pile on the pressure on right-back Billy Jones.
Yedlin can also play on the wing due to his remarkable pace, Advocaat added in his interview “He will definitely strengthen our options at full-back, he’s really quick and played for the national team last week more as a right-winger, than a full-back. But his pace is superb.”
Yedlin will be available for Saturday’s match away to Bournemouth, as the club will be looking to bring the first 3 points of the season back to Wearside.
