Sunderland new boy DeAndre Yedlin has revealed that he spoke to former Black Cat Jozy Altidore before making the switch to Sunderland.
In his first interview with the official site, Yedlin spoke of his conversation with Altidore “He mentioned that it was a great club – obviously in his time football-wise up here he didn’t have the best but he said it was a great club with great people.”
Altidore had a difficult 18-months on Wearside following his £6.5 million move from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar in 2013. The USA international striker registered 3 goals in 42 appearances for Sunderland, finding the net on just once in the Premier League.
Altidore made the switch stateside back in January, a deal which saw Jermain Defoe return to England for Sunderland.
DeAndre Yedlin joined Spurs from Seattle Sounders in 2014 after an impressive World Cup campaign in Brazil. The 22-year-old played out the remainder of the season at Seattle before joining Spurs in January this year.
The USA international was unable to feature against his parent club Tottenham on Saturday but is set to make his debut on Saturday against newly-promoted Bournemouth.
