Sunderland’s impact substitute Duncan Watmoreis a major doubt for the away trip to Bournemouth on Saturday through illness. Watmore hasn’t started a Premier League game yet for the Black Cats but has been introduced off the bench in 4 out of the last 5 games.
Watmore has been out of training in the build-up to this match, which may create an opportunity for his bench slot. DeAndre Yedlin is now available for selection after being ineligible against his parent club Spurs at the weekend. The full-back is a very versatile player, making him a valuable asset to have. The Spurs loanee is comfortable in both full back positions, whilst also featuring on the right wing for the USA in both of their recent international fixtures.

In addition to Yedlin, Adam Johnson could be set for a return. The winger has been out through injury since the opening game of the season away at Leicester, in which he suffered a dislocated shoulder. Johnson has been involved in light training throughout the duration of his injury but returned for full training earlier on in the week.

Watmore has made himself a favourite amongst the fans already, by coming off the bench to score in both the 3-1 loss to Norwich and the 6-3 win over Exeter in the Capital One cup. Watmore also won the Barclay’s Under 21 Premier League Player of the Season last year, making himself fully deserving of his First Team duties.
