After Dick Advocaat came under scrutiny for potentially rushing certain players, mainly Toivonen, Borini and Gomez, he has a further choice to make as Deadline Day loan signing DeAndre Yedlin has declared himself fit for the weekend’s game.
Since joining the Premier League from Seattle Sounders, Yedlin has made just one first-team appearance for Spurs, and has been limited to just Under 21’s football, as well as his first team duties for the USA. Yedlin managed to complete the full 90 minutes on both occasions for his country in the recent International break while playing out of position too.

“I think I’m in pretty good shape. I just played two 90 minutes games with the US, although I was playing right midfield. “I got those games under my belt, so I think i’m ready to last a 90 minute game now. Every day on the training pith, or in the game, it’s a time to prove yourself.”I don’t know what the manager will be thinking for the cup game, but if I get my chance and opportunity, I’ll give it all I’ve got. I thought we played very well last Sunday and obviously i know a lot of the players in the Spurs team.”
Yedlin can make his debut this Saturday, after being ineligible for Sunday’s defeat against his parent club Spurs. Yedlin is unlikely to be thrown straight into the side this weekend, unless injury occurs, due to the improvements shown on Sunday by both full backs, Billy Jones and Patrick van Aanholt, but will more likely deputise against Manchester City in the league cup next Tuesday. Yedlin believes building on the Spurs performance, Sunderland will give themselves a “great opportunity to get that win”.
