Sunderland endured a horrid time on the South coast as the 10-man Black Cats lost to newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth. Two goals in the opening ten minutes from Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie put the game beyond the Wearsiders who are still searching for their first win of the season. The linesman in the second half wrongly disallowed a Jeremain Lens header, which may have brought Sunderland back into the game, and a few minutes later Younes Kaboul was sent off for a second booking following a reckless hack at the dangerous Callum Wilson.
The defeat leaves Sunderland bottom of the league again and with Manchester United up next, the Black Cats may be waiting a while before their first win. Two points from six games is not good enough and Dick Advocaat has a big job motivating a squad who seem intent on under-performing every game.
