Sunderland are still searching for their first win of the campaign after their sixth game ended in a 2-0 defeat away to newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth. Dick Advocaat’s men were two goals down within the first 10 minutes, after goals from Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie put Bournemouth in the driving seat. Sunderland improved in the second half with Fabio Borini in particular, providing an attacking impetus, and the Black Cats should have been in with a chance of a comeback. Jeremain Lens had a header ruled out for offside following a quickly taken corner from Fabio Borini and Yann M’Vila. A few minutes later, the game was beyond Sunderland’s reach when Kevin Friend was left with little choice but to show stand-in captain Younes Kaboul a second yellow card for a foul on Callum Wilson. So, what did we learn from yesterday’s performance?
