The Black Cats have started the current season in the same miserable fashion as the previous 2 seasons, by failing to win a single game in their first 6.
Jamie Redknapp, writing for the Daily Mail, has discussed Sunderland’s poor form as of late.
It’s been another miserable weekend for the North East. Newcastle were awful but at least they can point to a new manager and new players settling in.But Sunderland show no signs of learning their lesson. They’ll probably end up sacking Dick Advocaat near the end of the season and hoping for the best. It’s the same old story.

Newcastle appointed Steve McClaren in the summer, but Advocaat was only appointed Sunderland manager near the end of last season. In retrospect, Advocaat is also a recent manager at Sunderland, with him only be appointed on a full-time basis this summer.
However, Sunderland signed more players in the recent window than Newcastle did, with Sunderland having four permanent signings and three loan signings. In addition, most of Sunderland’s new players were thrown straight into the side, whereas Newcastle’s recent signings have been filtered in. Both sides have been abysmal so far this season, but Newcastle’s poor form should not be blamed on a new manager and new players.
