Thankfully for Sunderland, the international break came at a perfect time. With Advocaat out the door and Allardyce through, it gave Sunderland a week to find a new manager, and Allardyce a week to familiarise himself with Sunderland as a club, and the non-international players.
An international break which saw England win their 10th match in 10 during their qualifiers also saw some Sunderland players feature for their countries. We’ll have a look through those who featured over the last week.
