Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has told Tyne and Wear derby goalscorer Adam Johnson that he needs to put in those performances on a regular basis.
Johnson made his third start of the season against Newcastle, pipping Seb Larsson to a spot in the starting XI. Allardyce says that he is aware of the quality possessed by Johnson, but it needs to be shown more often.
Allardyce has told the 28-year-old to prove the Premier League experience that he has, and has called out other players in the same position as him to do so.
He also spoke about how good it was to earn victory over their rivals, however, says the main objective is to get the club out of the poor position it is currently in.
Johnson has recently returned after he was suspended indefinitely by the club while he was under investigation for criminal charges, that have since been dropped.
