Liam Bridcutt’s loan move to Leeds United is looking doubtful, despite an agreement days ago.
The Sunderland outcast was looking set for a 2-month spell at Elland Road, where he would join his former Brighton teammate and other Sunderland outcast Will Buckley. Bridcutt was signed by Poyet, as a back-up for Cattermole. But since the departure of Poyet, Bridcutt has been extremely out of favour. The 26-year-old midfielder is believed to be keen on the switch, but the move has hit a bump in the road due to the uncertainty over Leeds’ owner Massimo Cellino’s future at the club.
Sam Allardyce was asked earlier today over the Bridcutt situation and described his views of the deal as “confused – a bit like Leeds. I’m not sure what’s happening because he was here for training today”.
New Leeds boss Steve Evans has admitted to being hopeful of the signing of Bridcutt, even though Bridcutt does indeed have different options. The future over Bridcutt should be decided by the weekend.
