Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has said that he is not afraid to drop some of the club’s bigger names and that instead of just accepting it, they should use it as motivation to push on and improve their performances when they do get another chance.
The club currently 19th in the Premier League with just one win in 12 league matches, that one victory being the 3-0 win over rivals Newcastle.
These are testing times for Big Sam and his squad; with a lot of the ‘bigger names’ failing to perform on Wearside.
It is going to take some effort for Allardyce to get Sunderland out of their current predicament and the January transfer window could be the thing that saves them; if they buy right.

Their defence has been one of the worst in the Premier League this season and is one obvious section of the team that needs addressing. However, if he does bring extra options in, he has said that players need to react to being dropped.
You want lots of choices, lots of options and to be disappointing some people by not putting them on the bench.
That should make them more hungry.
If they accept that there’s something wrong.
They shouldn’t accept it, they should try to do more to say to the manager ‘You should be picking me, giving me a chance’.
