Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has reportedly been given the go-ahead by the Black Cats board to go after £7m Olympiakos defender Arthur Masuaku.
The French full-back has been in very good form for his club side in Greece this season and has reportedly impressed the Sunderland boss enough to consider signing him in January to try and solve their defensive issues.
Patrick Van Aanholt currently slots in on the left-hand side of defence for the Premier League stragglers but has been lamented for his poor performances at the back this season; with Sunderland conceding goal after goal each week.

The signing could add strength down the left side and maybe help Sunderland to stay tighter at the back, something that certainly needs to happen, and quickly, before any thoughts of Premier League survival can be held by the club and its supporters.
Would Masuaku be a good addition to the Sunderland side?
