Sunderland battled to just their second win of the season with a valuable away victory at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace on Monday night. Black Cats striker Jermain Defoe pounced on an error from Palace defender Scott Dann with 10 minutes to go to steal all three points for the Wearsiders.
Defoe’s goal was no less than the Black Cats deserved having defended vigilantly for the 79 minutes prior to the strike. Sam Allardyce will now be hoping that his Sunderland side can build up some momentum as they host Stoke City this weekend at the Stadium of Light.
