Sunderland slumped to their 10th defeat of the season against Watford, leaving the Black Cats two points from safety in 19th place in the table. A slow start from Sunderland allowed Odion Ighalo to poke home from close range in the fourth minute, but it could so easily have been more before half time.
Fabio Borini, Duncan Watmore and Jack Rodwell all had shots go wide of the post, before Heurellho Gomes expertly saved Jermain Defoe’s shot with one hand to prevent the lads from picking up at least one deserved point.
