Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has challenged summer signing Jeremain Lens to showcase his true talent in a red and white shirt after being left out of the squad in recent weeks as a result of disciplinary reasons.
Lens spoke of how he may seek a move away from the Stadium of Light in a recent interview after his lack of inclusion in the Sunderland side since Sam Allardyce’s arrival at the club.
The Dutchman was brought in by former manager Dick Advocaat and was playing regularly for the experienced boss, however, his departure from Sunderland left Lens to be managed by Allardyce and meant that chances were hard to come by for the former-Dynamo Kiev man.
Allardyce has now recalled Lens to the squad in preparation for Sunderland’s clash at Manchester City, demanding the Netherlands international to show his talents.

Get on the pitch and show us what you can do and prove to us all that you’re the talent we expected with the performances that have been achieved in other parts of the world.
He is one of our biggest signings. We have been through our process to get it right, we are both of the same opinion in terms of how we go forward.
Lens has impressed on occasions for the Black Cats, but has not lived up to the expectations of him since his arrival; a viewpoint that the 28-year-old will hope to change with better performances over the festive period.
