Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker has been linked to multiple Premier League clubs over recent weeks, and Sunderland are due to join the race.
The England centre-half is currently on loan at Southampton and has had a positive impact on Ronald Koeman’s side, even though he doesn’t feature constantly, and it’s obvious his quality should be in the Premier League rather than at parent club QPR in the Championship.
This isn’t the first time Caulker has been linked with the Black Cats, as when he captained his former club Cardiff City, Sunderland pursued the now 24-year-old when the Welsh outfit dropped to the Championship.

Caulker has played once for England – getting his only goal in that game as well – and is looking for a Premier League to settle with for the permanent future after being relegated with Cardiff and QPR respectively. It is reported Norwich and Crystal Palace are also both very keen on signing the Tottenham youth product.
As Ste Hoare writes for Read Crystal Palace, the London-based club are supposedly favourites for his signature with a player plus cash deal, but this won’t stop Big Sam from spurring a much-needed move for a strong centre-back.
Sky Sports understand that the English defender is indeed interesting Sunderland and could potentially make a permanent move to Wearside should all three clubs involved agree.
