Sunderland have all but completed a deal for Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend, according to the Independent.
The 24-year-old will significantly increase his £40,000 a week wages at the Stadium of Light, whilst Spurs will receive as much as £14 million for the Englishman according to some reports.
Rivals Newcastle, Watford and West Brom have all been interested in a deal for the winger, who has been frozen out of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, but it looks as though it is the Black Cats that have won the race.
Manager Sam Allardyce is keen to add Townsend’s pace to the Sunderland squad in a bid to make the drastic improvements to the team needed in January if the Lads are to escape from relegation for the fourth year in a row.
Townsend, who has two and a half years left on his Spurs contract, has grown frustrated with his lack of game time in North London and is understood to be keen to join Allardyce in the North East.
