Sampdoria have officially signed former Inter and Sunderland playmaker Ricky Alvarez, after being at the centre of an arbitration case between his former clubs for months, writes Football Italia.
The club announced the signing on their website this morning, and will be a Blucerhciati player until the end of the season.
Sampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella has spoke of the player’s enthusiasm being the reason he sparked the move for the 27-year-old. Montella praised the playmaker’s ‘great technical skill’ ahead of tomorrow’s Derby Della Lanterna against Genoa.

The Argentine spent three seasons at Inter Milan before signing for Sunderland on loan in the 2014/15 season. Alvarez made his Premier League debut after the international break against Tottenham, playing the majority of the game in a 2-2 draw.
He scored his only goal for the club against Fulham in a 3-1 victory in the FA Cup 4th Round Replay. His eleven appearances for the club, however, were slightly disappointing, and he never got the best of chances under boss Gus Poyet.
The deal originally proposed was that Alvarez would sign for the Black Cats should they avoid relegation, that they did, however, we didn’t commit due to clauses and thus FIFA intervened and Alvarez was sidelined until the transfer was dealt with.
Thankfully, the Argentine now has a club and will be playing football for the remaining months of the season.
