Defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt has extended his loan deal with Leeds United until the end of the season.
The club confirmed the deal today after the Scotsman initially joined the Yorkshire club on an emergency loan in November.
Bridcutt, 26, joined his former Brighton boss Gus Poyet at the Stadium of Light in 2014, making 36 appearances in all competitions for the Lads. He struggled to work his way into Dick Advocaat’s picture and doesn’t appear to be in Sam Allardyce’s plans either.
Making his début in the Tyne-Wear derby, he impressed for Sunderland before putting in a string of distinctly average performances for the Black Cats. His last competitive appearance in Red and White came in May 2015 in the 0-0 draw with Leicester at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland are looking to offload Bridcutt permanently in the summer transfer window – regardless of which division the Black Cats find themselves in next season.
