The 25-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by the German champions, and with his contract set to expire in the summer, it looks like they’ve decided to get some cash for him now.

Kirchhoff signed for Bayern on a free transfer in 2013 but failed to do enough to earn a spot in a highly talented first team.
He spent 18 months on loan at Schalke between December 2013 and June 2015, before returning to Munich where he has made just one cup appearance all season.
The former German U21 international, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, will provide competition in a Sunderland defence that has conceded 39 times in 20 league games this season.
