Sunderland defender John O’Shea says that Sam Allardyce should have no hesitation in picking Tom Beadling in the weekend FA Cup clash with Arsenal.
The Black Cats travel to the Emirates with a host of injury problems, and Allardyce has already indicated that he’ll make changes to the side, so Beadling has a great chance of starting the game.

O’Shea, Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Coates are all injured, which means that Wes Brown is the only experienced centre-back available for selection, so the 19-year-old might be asked to come into the side, either alongside Brown, or in place of him if Allardyce decides not to risk the former Manchester United man ahead of the upcoming league games against Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking to Steve Brown of The Chronicle, the O’Shea said that Beadling has the backing of the players and suggested that he’s more than capable of playing in any upcoming games.
Tom’s shown a fantastic attitude. He’s played a couple of games in pre-season for us so we know he’s got the temperament to cope should he be called upon. I’m sure if needs be the manager will give him a chance because he’s shown in training what he’s capable of. I’m sure the manager will be thinking of bringing in more experience, but Tom’s one for the future and the present.
