Sunderland have come to the defence of their transfer regarding Lamine Kone, claiming that the talk of Lorient’s threat regarding legal action is ‘ludicrous’.
The powerful Ivory Coast international was set to complete a £5 million move to the Stadium of Light in the coming week, however, transfer talks appear to have broken down between Sunderland and Kone’s parent club Lorient.
However, the French outfit are considering taking legal action on the Black Cats after their main centre-back Kone missed their last three games as a result of the collapsed transfer.
It is understood that in the coming days, Lorient are to meet the Federation Francaise de Football to discuss taking legal action on Sunderland due to being hugely disappointed with the Premier League strugglers’ lack of efficiency when carrying out the transfer.

A spokesperson of Sunderland recently spoke to Sky Sports News HQ regarding the deal, claiming that Lorient’s legal threats are hugely unnecessary.
We find talk of potential legal action to be ludicrous and would vigorously defend our position on this.
Now that all talk of Kone’s arrival at the Stadium of Light has been quashed, manager Sam Allardyce will be forced to look elsewhere as he looks to bolster his side’s defence.
