Despite Sunderland closing in on Dame N’Doye, reports today have linked the Black Cats with another powerful forward. Alongside Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace, Sunderland have been linked with a multi-million-pound move to bolster their attacking threat.
The Black Cats are willing to submit a £11-million bid for Fiorentina’s Senegalese striker, Khouma Babacar, according to Gazzetta. The 22-year-old has also attracted interest from Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland, as the Viola rejected a proposed bid for elsewhere for their striker last week.
In just eight Serie A games this season, Babacar has managed to net on four occasions. Because the Italian side appear likely to let go of Italian striker Giuseppe Rossi this January, it is unlikely that Babacar will depart at the same time. During the last four games, the Senegal star has been benched completely, which means he hasn’t been used, in the past four fixtures, a move that has seen Babacar grow increasingly frustrated.

In attack this season, the duo of Premier League clubs expressing their interest in the striker have been lacking in front of goal. Palace, who are sitting in an impressive seventh spot, have netted 23 goals in only 20 games, whereas the Black Cats have only won four games all season and sit second bottom.
