According to Chris Young of the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland full-back DeAndre Yedlin could bring his loan spell on Wearside to a premature end. Yedlin signed for Sunderland on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and despite having a run of games earlier in the season, has lost his place to Billy Jones in the side
Signed by former manager Dick Advocaat, the American international has fallen out of favour with new boss Sam Allardyce and it is believed that the Sunderland manager is the in the market for a new right-back this January. Yedlin is a speedy young American who enjoys getting forward, however, his defensive abilities have come under scrutiny and it appears that Allardyce has lost patience.

The 22-year old is understood to still be in Tottenham’s plans for the future and with no long-term or short-term benefit for Sunderland it appears that the loan deal could be cut short. Allardyce must find a replacement with Adam Matthews still struggling to find fitness this season, leaving Billy Jones the only fit right-back in the squad.
