According to Foot Mercato, Sunderland are looking to offer up Fabio Borini in their desperate pursuit of Swansea forward Andre Ayew. The Black Cats are looking to add to their forward line with Jermain Defoe the only striker scoring regularly for Sunderland this season.
The Black Cats are understood to have had two bids rejected for Ayew this January in the region of £6-million and £10-million, with Sunderland considering a player-plus-cash offer for the Ghanaian.

Borini only rejoined Sunderland in the summer from Liverpool for £8-million, with the Italian enjoying a successful loan spell on Wearside two seasons earlier. However, this season so far has failed to reach those heights for Borini, with the Italian failing to hold down a regular starting spot, managing just two goals in eleven games for the Black Cats. Borini spent a spell on loan in South Wales during his time as a Chelsea player, scoring six goals in eleven games in the Championship.

Sunderland could also offer former Swans player Jordi Gomez should Swansea not have interest in Borini. Gomez has fallen out of favour under Sam Allardyce and although he is not worth as much as Borini, Sunderland would still be willing to offer the Spaniard plus a higher cash sum for Ayew.
