The Chronicle Live reports that Sunderland are the 25th highest earning club in the world, after the annual ‘money league’ report was released by accountancy firm Deloitte.
The North East club finished two places higher than last year, and are one of seventeen clubs from the Premier League to join the top 30, with seven English clubs making the top 20. Their revenue for the previous season was just short of Leicester and Swansea at around 132.9 million euros, about 102.7 million pounds.
The Black Cats had a total home attendance of around 816,000 last season, meaning gate revenues themselves equated to over £16 million.

The increase is believed to be down to BPL television broadcast deals constantly improving, and the senior manager of Deloitte, Tim Bridge, has said:
“With the new round of Premier League broadcast deals set to deliver greatly improved domestic broadcast revenues in 2016/17, we expect to see Premier League clubs cementing their places in the top 30 in the coming years, with potential for some of these to climb into the top 20.”
The ever-growing industry of football seems to be booming better than ever in England, however Real Madrid are still to be moved from the number one spot after eleven years of being the highest earners in the world, as last year they quadrupled the Wearsiders’ profits. The highest English club is still Manchester United in third, who only fell a place because of their absence from the 2014/15 Champions League, however they beat rivals Manchester City who sit in sixth.
