Sam Allardyce has brought in two new players this January, however, he still aims to bring in another three names before the window slams shut in under 10 days, and he has admitted he wanted all business concluded by now, writes the Sunderland Echo.
Jan Kirchhoff and Dame N’Doye have joined up with the Mackems and are both expected to make an appearance tomorrow against Bournemouth and the Stadium of Light, but Allardyce is still expected to sign a third choice goalkeeper, then another defender and striker.
Allardyce has spoke about getting business done as quickly as possible:
“We’ve been trying on several players for a long time. “If everything had gone according to plan, we’d be finishing now. “But everything hasn’t done and we’re not finished yet. “In realistic terms, I haven’t done bad getting in two players as quick as I can. Normally, it’s the last four days of January.
The main man on Sunderland’s list so far is Ghanaian attacker Andre Ayew, who has had a decent few months with struggling Swansea. Ayew’s camp are supposedly open for talks, however, the club don’t intend to lose their star performer so easily, after rejecting two bids from the Wearsiders. The third being lined up is apparently featuring Sunderland Summer signing Fabio Borini as part of an exchange plus cash deal for the 26-year-old Swan.
Supposedly, new Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin is a fan of the Italian, and would be open to conclude a deal with the Mackems, Ayew involved or not, after a disappointing start to his fresh career with the Black Cats.
The departures of Costel Pantilimon and Danny Graham have helped free up the wage budget somewhat, meaning deals will be much easier to wrap up for the experienced manager:
”Yes, getting rid of players helps with the wage scenario, because it’s restricted today. “You just can’t spend as much on wages as you feel like any more. “That makes it even more difficult, but that’s the rules, that’s what we have to manage.”
