Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light yesterday courtesy of a strong Bournemouth performance.
The visitors lead early through new signing Benik Afobe, whose header wasn’t dealt with by the new no. 1 keeper Vito Mannone. Eddie Howe’s side’s domination lasted the majority of the half, before the home side finally punished the opposition defence through a somewhat familiar goalscorer as of late Patrick Van Aanholt, who jumped on Fabio Borini’s through ball and slotted past Artur Boruc, much to the home fans’ delight after a troubling 45 minutes of play.
