Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has sent his scouts out on their final mission in order to save their season, writes The Sunderland Echo.
The new boss wants at least two new faces in over the next seven days, following a disappointing draw at the Stadium of Light on Saturday and relegation rivals Swansea winning at Goodison Park, it’s never looked darker on Wearside. A large amount of names have floated around the media of who could be next to join the Mackems, following the signings of Jan Kirchhoff, Dame N’Doye and Steve Harper.
The main name being Ghanaian attacker Andre Ayew, however the Swans are content that their star man will not be leaving this January. It is also understood that they are looking to recover a deal for Lorient right-back Lamine Gassama, who supposedly rejected a move to England a few weeks ago.

The boss knows that Sunderland need some quality players, especially over the next few weeks where the Black Cats face both sides of Manchester, Liverpool and his former outfit West Ham United.
Allardyce has confirmed he has been around the Continent to watch a potential new recruit, and will discuss his findings over the next 24 hours:
I was off yesterday morning somewhere in Europe, as well as the other scouts. We’ll meet up today and tomorrow, and try to nail the targets we need to nail. Every waking hour for everybody on recruitment is to look at as many players as we possibly can. At the moment, because of technology, you can look at footage of all players from all games throughout Europe. Then we can send someone out. I headed out yesterday, as did most of the scouts. We were all looking at specific targets to make a final judgement on.
