Swansea have denied recent reports from the Sunderland Echo suggesting that a fresh offer for forward Andre Ayew has been made from Sunderland, after it was heavily rumoured that a swap deal involving Fabio Borini and money was in the offing.
The Black Cats had a previous offer for the Ghana international turned down by the Swans, who will look to consolidate their position in the Premier League after appointing new manager Francesco Guidolin, but are adamant that no new formal offer from Sunderland has been made. The 26-year-old was reportedly the subject of a second offer from Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland, with the Englishman a keen admirer of the Ghanaian’s talents, but Swansea have claimed these reports to be false.

Speaking about Ayew’s current situation, a Swansea spokesperson had this to say:
We have had no contact from Sunderland since their original bid was turned down. The statement Alan Curtis made last week saying that Andre Ayew will not be going anywhere in this transfer window still stands.
However, Sunderland are thought to not be giving up their pursuit of Ayew with the striker Allardyce’s number 1 target this month. It is believed that funds are not an issue for Sunderland, with several faces leaving the Stadium of Light this month, however, Ellis Short and Sam Allardyce will not pay over the odds for the striker having seen a £10-million bid already rejected. The Black Cats are understood to be willing to table one final offer for Ayew this week but it will not include Fabio Borini who wishes to stay at the club.
