Sunderland forgotten man Charis Mavrias has joined German Bundesliga Second Division side Fortuna Dusseldorf on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The Greek winger arrived at Sunderland from Panathinaikos in 2013 for a fee of £2.5-million under Paolo Di Canio. It is fair to say that the 21-year-old has had a poor time in England despite limited opportunities under four different managers.

Mavrias made his Sunderland debut as a second-half substitute in a 4-2 Capital One Cup win over MK Dons in 2013 and scored his only goal for the club in the FA Cup victory over Kidderminster Harriers at the Stadium of Light in 2014. His last appearance for the club came earlier this month in the FA Cup against Arsenal, the team he made his one and only league appearance against in 2013.
Mavrias now has the opportunity to rebuild his career in Germany and force his way back into the Greek national side frame.
