Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has finished talk of a move for Andre Ayew this transfer window by saying the deal is definitely off.
The Chronicle writes that Allardyce fancied a move for the attacker at the beginning of the transfer window, however, now accepts defeat as the Ghanaian doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Ayew joined the Swans in the Summer transfer window and the Wearsiders were hoping the Welsh side could part with another crucial player following the departure of Jonjo Shelvey earlier this month
Allardyce has said:
Have we given up? Yes. I can’t see Swansea selling Andre Ayew. I never really thought they would to be honest, and we haven’t put a bid in. It was a bit more speculation about whether Swansea would let him go.
Yet you can’t help but feel any deal can happen this transfer window following the shock £5 million signing of Lamine Kone yesterday, after Allardyce himself completely wrote off another bid for the Ivorian centre-half. He has also spoke that ‘anything can happen’ in a press conference earlier in the week, suggesting the speculation may become a tabled bid come deadline day.
The former Marseille man has scored 8 goals in 22 games for the struggling side this season, and it’s obvious that his quality could be the difference between staying up and going down for either side.
