Sunderland have announced the £9 million signing of Bordeaux midfielder Wahbi Khazri as boss Sam Allardyce looks to bolster his side’s attacking threat heading into the second half of the season.
It comes as no surprise to see another attacking outlet being added to the Sunderland squad with the uphill task of surviving relegation facing them this season, but a player of Khazri’s prestige and talent was widely unexpected as Sunderland secure the deal for the Tunisian international.
The 24-year-old has been secured as the Black Cats’ marquee signing mid-way through the season and joins the club on a contract that will take him up until the summer of 2020.

I’m very happy to play for Sunderland. It is amazing because I wanted to play in the Premier League; for me it is the best league in Europe so I’m very excited and I can’t wait to play games.
Khazri netted on 14 occasions for Bordeaux, playing 49 times over the course of two years for the French giants since his arrival from fellow Ligue 1 outfit Bastia.
The Tunisian proved to be one of Bordeaux’s most important players this season and is sure to be a great miss to them, but a great option for Sam Allardyce to have at his disposal for Sunderland.
Are you happy with the signing of Khazri?
