Sunderland midfielder Yann M’Vila has stated his intent and wish to stay at Sunderland beyond this season, providing the Black Cats can avoid relegation from the premier league.
The French International arrived on a season-long loan from Rubin Kazan with Sunderland paying around half of his wages this season. M’Vila has no desire on returning to Russia and is hopeful that his representatives can negotiate a mutual termination of his contract at Rubin in the summer.
“It’s important for me to sort out the contract issue with Rubin Kazan but I have always said that my objective is to play in the Premier League.
“I want to stay here and play in the Premier League with Sunderland.
“Hopefully we will stay up and they will make me an offer, and then we can get around the table and talk and hopefully we can continue the adventure. At the moment I am speaking with a lawyer.
M’Vila has been Sunderland’s best player this season under both Dick Advocaat and Sam Allardyce and he has faith that Big Sam can steer the club away from the drop zone.
“I think I saw a stat somewhere that said he had the fifth highest amount of wins in the Premier League, around 150. That speaks for itself.
“He’s made some great signings and managed to instil a fantastic level of confidence and fight in us.
“We’re hungry in every game and we want to go to war. I think he’s going to get us out of this situation.”
Should Sunderland stay up, the potential free transfer of M’Vila would be a major coup for the Black Cats.
