Sunderland’s January transfer business saw them produce excellent signings from Ligue 1 in the form of Wahbi Khazri and Lamine Kone – who have performed brilliantly in the club’s bid for Premier League survival, and now Sam Allardyce looks to be heading for another dip into that market this summer.
According to the Chronicle, Sunderland sent scouts to watch Denmark and Toulouse striker Martin Braithwaite play for his country against Scotland at Hampden Park during the international break.

The pacy 24-year-old, who can play as a winger, an attacking midfielder, or a striker, has scored three goals in his last six appearances for Toulouse.
He didn’t score in Scotland with the Black Cats scouts watching his game, but his most recent goal was just last weekend, in his side’s 2-0 home win over Caen.
The Danish forward is fast, an accomplished dribbler and a good passer.
His ability to play as a winger or behind other strikers would compliment Jermain Defoe and Wahbi Khazri in particular as the three would make a very fluid combination in attack.
Braithwaite has 22 goals and eight assists in 96 league games for Toulouse since the start of the 2013/14 season – and also has a fantastic disciplinary record, having only picked up two yellow cards in that time.
