Former West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is considering a move for one of his former players this summer, according Kieran Gill of The Mail.
Gill suggests that Allardyce is planning to take defender Joey O’Brien to the North East at the end of the season.
The right-back is out of contract in the summer and it looks like he’ll be allowed to leave the club before they begin their first season in the Olympic Stadium.

Allardyce knows O’Brien well having managed him at both Bolton Wanderers and West Ham and Sunderland need a new right-back as their current starter, DeAndre Yedlin, is only on loan from Tottenham Hotspur and he’s expected to stay with the North London side next season.
O’Brien has found himself well down the pecking order at West Ham and at 30-years-of-age, he’s likely to want to be playing regular first-team football, which is he’s not going to get under Slaven Bilic.
