Sunderland travelled to Stoke yesterday, hoping for a good result in order to stay outside of the relegation zone. Stoke went 1-0 up inside the second half with a goal from Marco Arnautovic, but they were pegged back by an injury-time Defoe penalty. A point seems a relatively good result down to the poor Sunderland performance, however, Newcastle’s victory over Crystal Palace means Sunderland have dropped into the relegation zone. Who knows how crucial today’s last-ditch equaliser may prove.

Norwich travelled to Arsenal in yesterday’s evening game and lost 1-0, meaning they do still stay behind Sunderland in the bottom 3. Sunderland host Chelsea next Saturday, with Newcastle travelling to Aston Villa and Norwich entertaining Manchester United. Next weekend’s fixtures could prove crucial in deciding the fate of the three teams struggling at the bottom of the table.
We’re going to look through the player ratings of yesterday’s team.
